BIO
My dance training started in 2012 at my hometown studio, Dancers Edge, in Kernersville, NC. For 10 years, I trained as a competitive dancer in styles such as jazz, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, and modern. During this time, I trained in summer intensives such as Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Dance Theatre of Harlem. In 2022, I graduated high school and began college in the fall of 2022 at NYU Tisch School of the Arts as a dance major. I am now 21 years old and will have completed my BFA in dance in May of 2025. I am a passionate dancer, teacher, and choreographer who is eager to share myself with the world.

ARTIST STATEMENT AND TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Artist Statement: We, as humans, can verbally speak about life experiences and how they make us feel. My work and mission as an artist is to make works that allow the dancer to show these experiences through movement, and for the audience to find a connection. This same idea is what I hold as a performer. My most recent work, "Ebb and Flow," is a solo performance about the cycle of grief and what it feels like to be grieving through choreography. I am interested in breaking the wall between the audience and the dancer. Dancers and audience members have one thing in common; they are both complex human beings.
Teaching Philosophy: As a teacher, I value creating an environment of inclusion and acknowledgement of the diversity in the classroom. I value recognizing each and every student for who they are. I want a class space that is free of judgment based on someone's looks, background in dance, culture, stereotyping, and prejudice. I will not overlook anyone and will treat everyone with kindness and respect. Everyone should feel seen and appreciated. I value a classroom where students leave feeling they have learned something new about themselves, me, and each other. I value creating a class of constant collaboration and new discoveries. I will feel as if I have done my job when students understand their purpose as artists and are eager to constantly learn and grow. Our bodies are our vessels and temples which should be appreciated and cared for by ourselves and each other, so we can continue our growth that is never ending.
